Overview
Date: Tuesday, August 6, 2024
Inspired by a presentation sponsored by the Arts Council, Village Voyagers are joining forces with Indiana Landmarks, the US's largest preservation organization.
Together, they are organizing a tour that highlights community spirit through the visitation of four restored sites in Southern Indiana. These sites, preserved since 1960, are a testament to the importance of community heritage for current and future generations.
On this tour, we will visit four of these sites clustered in Southern Indiana.
Tour Locations
Eleutherian Collage
Located in the former town of Lancaster, the college was founded in 1848 to educate enslaved people who were freed or had escaped to the north in search of freedom.
Eagle Cotton Mill
The mill was built in 1884, employing hundreds of workers and producing twine, candle wick, and fabric which was shipped worldwide.
Shrewsbury-Windle House
Built in 1884 for Charles Shrewsbury, a riverboat captain, the house features 12 rooms, 13 fireplaces and a 53-step spiral staircase.
Hanover and Hanover College
Hanover College was founded in 1827 and is the oldest private college in Indiana.
Package Inclusions
- Round-trip luxury motorcoach transportation.
- Visits to the four sites listed above with a representative from each restoration organization discussing the restoration process.
- Catered lunch at the Fairfield Inn.
- Donation to each restoration organization.
- Appropriate gratuities including the driver.

Cost of the Tour
The tour costs $189.00 per person. The cost breakdown is as follows: Transportation = 58% Meals = 18% Donation to Sites = 24%

Final payment date is Friday, July 5, 2024. For reservations received after Friday, May 24th a $15.00 service fee will be added to cover the cost of updating the reservations at the various locations.
Cancellations
There are no refunds after the final payment date which is Friday, July 5, 2024.
